Triathlon DATEV Challenge Roth
Every summer the whole region fevers for the worldwide largest long-distance Triathlon race. The Triathlon Challenge Roth attracts both top athletes and amateurs from 75 different countries, who stand on the start-line ready to face a formidable challenge: 3.8 km swimming in the Main-Danube canal, 180 km cycling and 42 km running.
In this occasion, Triathlon enthusiasts line the trail and support triathletes. Greding is a supporters’ "gathering point" as here competitors ride over a particularly challenging stretch to reach the hill named Kalvarienberg (the "Calvary"). Fans come here already at 7 a.m. and "tank" energy with white sausages as a typical Bavarian breakfast. Neither culinary specialties nor enthusiasm fail through the whole day: supporters follow the challenge live on the Kalvarienberg and spur on athletes to go over the steep slope. Afterwards, they celebrate to samba rhythm at the "Triathlon-Party" in Greding, with cheerleader shows and - of course - updated news on the challenge.
