Stadtmuseum - Historical Museum Ingolstadt

The Danube area near Ingolstadt is very high in archaeological findings. Many of the exhibits, documents and finds displayed in the museum originate from places and towns in what is nowadays the District of Eichstätt.
The Celts were the first to construct a larger settlement that might actually be called “town” in the Ingolstadt area. Many finds, treasures of antique coins and sanctuaries give an account of this prehistoric period of prosperity. At the Historical Museum Ingolstadt, there are numerous suggestions for field trips to excavation sites.
Furthermore, the Historical Museum Ingolstadt hosts precious treasures such as the amber Necklace from the Bronze Age, one of the most significant amber finds from Neolithic Europe, and the Swedish King Gustav Adolf’s Gray Horse, Ingolstadt’s famous trophy of the Thirty Years’ War.
